ASHE – Full-Grain Leather
Crafted in full-grain leather, this Ashe brings a more structured expression to the collection.
The natural grain remains visible across the surface, allowing the leather’s individual markings and character to remain part of the piece.
The shoulder strap is hand-beaded in a vibrant composition of colours associated with Maasai beadwork, bringing a strong visual contrast to the richness of the leather.
Each section is worked by hand, making the beadwork an integral part of the object rather than an applied embellishment.
The bag is constructed around three access points: zipped compartments at the front and back, and a central mouth opening secured by a round solid-brass snap closure.
The warm brass creates a subtle punctuation at the centre while maintaining the functionality of the original Olbene-inspired form.
The interior is finished in printed African cotton fabric.
Ashe means “thank you” in Maasai.
Inspired by the traditional Maasai Olbene bag, Ashe carries the memory of a utilitarian form into a contemporary object.
