Within Akire, the elements are both physical and philosophical.
Fire heats. Earth provides. Water prepares and transforms. Air dries, cools and gives space for form to settle.

The past begins with what is passed forward.
Fire represents transformation, one of the humanity oldest relationships with making ;the ability to transform materials through heat.
Within Akire, heat remains part of the making.
Sand is heated to help retain the form of our gourd-inspired leather objects, while brass is worked through heat to become the details that complete them.
The past is not something we reproduce. It is knowledge we carry forward.
FUTURE: WATER & AIR
The future begins with the willingness to move.
Water changes form without losing its nature. Within the making of Akire, it cleans, softens and prepares leather, allowing material to be moulded into something new.
