ASHE – Deep Orange Suede

Ashe means “thank you” in Maasai.

Crafted in deep orange suede, this Ashe has a warm, saturated presence, softened by the tactile character of the leather.

The suede gives the colour depth rather than brightness, allowing its surface to shift subtly with touch and light.

The shoulder strap is entirely hand-beaded in mixed Maasai colours, bringing a layered composition of colour and pattern against the deep orange body.

This edition is distinguished by its three zipped sections front, centre and back giving the piece a more compartmentalised construction while preserving the elongated form inspired by the traditional Maasai Olbene bag.

The interior is lined in printed African cotton, introducing another expression of colour and pattern when the piece is opened.

This Ashe speaks through colour.

Deep orange suede gives the piece its warmth and presence, while the hand-beaded strap carries the familiar richness of Maasai colour.

Inspired by the traditional Olbene bag, its form has been reimagined with three separate zipped sections for contemporary use.

What began as an object made to carry continues here in another time and another expression still made by hand, still carrying a story.
