ASHE – Full-Grain Leather with mixed Colours

Crafted in full-grain leather, this Ashe reveals the natural character of the hide through its grain, texture and subtle variations across the surface.

Unlike the softer suede editions within the collection, this piece has a more structured presence that will continue to develop character through handling and time.

The shoulder strap is hand-beaded in colours associated with Maasai beadwork, bringing a vivid composition of colour against the richness of the leather.

Function is integrated discreetly into the form.

Zipped compartments at both the front and back frame a central mouth opening, secured with a round solid-brass snap closure.

The brass provides a warm counterpoint to the leather while giving the centre of the piece its defining hardware detail.

The interior is finished in printed African cotton fabric, bringing pattern and colour into the concealed interior.

Ashe means “thank you” in Maasai.

Inspired by the traditional Maasai Olbene bag, Ashe carries forward the memory of a utilitarian form through Akire’s contemporary interpretation.

Here, full-grain leather gives that story another expression.

Its natural surface is intended to evolve rather than remain unchanged, while hand-worked Maasai bead colours and solid brass bring together craft, material and function.
