Amuka -To Wake Up
Sculpted from vegetable-tanned kips leather, this Amuka is distinguished by scarification markings on the right side of its frontal form, continuing onto the back of the bag.
The placement creates an asymmetrical composition, allowing the markings to be discovered as the piece is viewed from different angles.
The leather is softened with water, moulded by hand over a carved form and left to dry naturally under the sun.
Through this gradual process, each face develops its own expression, contours and proportions. No two Amuka pieces are identical.
This edition features an ellipse-shaped mouth and a sculptural lid constructed from five individually cut and stacked layers of leather.
The layered construction gives the lid depth, structure and a distinct architectural finish.
Over time, the vegetable-tanned kips leather will deepen in colour and develop a patina shaped by touch, movement and the life of its collector.
