Amuka -To Wake Up
Sculpted from vegetable-tanned kips leather, this Amuka is distinguished by the deeply wrinkled texture of its face.
The folds and creases give the expression depth and character, allowing the natural surface of the leather to become part of the sculpture.
The piece features a rectangular mouth covered by a structured leather flap.
A vintage-style brass tuck lock with a press-release mechanism secures the closure.
A West African brass ornament adorns one side of the frontal form, adding a ceremonial accent and creating a rich contrast against the textured leather. With time, both the leather and brass will develop their own patina.
Individually moulded by hand and dried naturally under the sun, every Amuka emerges with different features, contours and proportions. No two faces are identical.
