This Akidoun is defined by its prominently protruding elephant face.

The forehead, trunk and tusks project outward from the body, giving the sculpture greater depth and a commanding three-dimensional presence.

The pronounced facial structure allows light and shadow to move across the leather, revealing the character of the mould from every angle.

Meaning “to give birth” in Turkana, Akidoun honours the African savanna elephant as a symbol of life, strength, memory and continuity.

Hand-moulded and hand-stitched from vegetable-tanned kip leather, the piece is finished with an African cotton lining.

Three artisans contribute to its creation over 26–30 days.
