An individually sourced Cotton On denim in washed blue, selected for its 100% cotton composition and tapered form, then reworked through an Akire beadwork expression inspired by the branching forms of tree roots.
Across the denim, gold, midnight blue, and red beads form an extending network of lines.
The composition follows the irregular nature of roots, branching, separating, and continuing down the garment rather than settling into a repeated pattern.
There is no need for symmetry here.
Like roots beneath the earth, the lines find their own direction.
Some remain close; others separate and travel further, allowing the beadwork to unfold as the eye moves down the denim.
At the back pocket, the composition gives way to a single Akire mark, worked in red beadwork.
This is where Beadwork Expressions finds its freedom: nature is observed, but not copied exactly.
A familiar natural form becomes a starting point, interpreted through colour, movement and the hand.
