An individually sourced Wrangler denim in faded black, selected for its 100% cotton composition and relaxed fit, then reworked through beetle forms and vertical beadwork.
Across the front, six Akire beetles form the principal composition four worked in red and two in gold.
Between them, vertical strands of mixed-colour beadwork introduce another rhythm, drawing the eye down the denim while the beetles hold their place across its surface.
The faded-black ground allows the colours to emerge differently: red carries much of the composition, gold introduces a measured shift, while the mixed vertical beadwork moves between the two. Rather than separating motif from line, both are allowed to inhabit the same piece.
At the back pocket, a single beetle brings several colours together within one form. After the more structured colour placement at the front, this mixed palette gives the reverse its own expression.
Here, the beetle and the line meet again two recurring studies within Akire’s denim language, brought together through colour, placement and the hand.
This piece reflects Akire’s ongoing vision of upcycling—not as reuse alone, but as cultural infusion, where garments become vessels of story, skill, and identity.
