A sourced L.L.Bean denim in steel blue, selected for its 100% cotton composition and classic fit, then transformed through Akire’s beetle beadwork.
Eight beetles form the composition across the front;four worked along each side of the denim.
Green and black dominate the beadwork, with subtle touches of white appearing within individual forms.
Against the depth of steel blue, the colours give each beetle its own variation while allowing the repeated motif to read as one considered work.
The back offers a deliberate change of tone. A single beetle in gold beadwork is placed at the pocket, standing apart from the darker palette at the front.
Worked individually, bead by bead, no two beetles are entirely identical.
The variations of the hand remain visible a recurring Akire symbol interpreted through colour, repetition and placement.
