An individually sourced Havana denim in charcoal grey, selected for its 100% cotton composition and unfinished hem, then given another life through Akire beadwork.

Across the front, six Akire beetles are worked entirely in gold colour, three on either side.

Against the depth of charcoal grey, the singular use of gold gives definition to the recurring form, allowing repetition and placement to become the composition.

An individually sourced Havana denim in charcoal grey, selected for its 100% cotton composition and unfinished hem, then given another life through Akire beadwork.

Across the front, six Akire beetles are worked entirely in gold colour, three on either side.

Against the depth of charcoal grey, the singular use of gold gives definition to the recurring form, allowing repetition and placement to become the composition.

The reverse introduces an unexpected change. A single beetle appears in green at the back, breaking from the gold language of the front and giving the piece another expression when viewed from behind.

The unfinished hem remains part of the original denim, retained rather than concealed. Existing character and new handwork meet within one individual piece.
