Akitere Set

Akitere is the name given to the middle-sized African-inspired gourd bag collection.

Handmade from quality leather for the outer part, and cotton African print lining on the inner part, it has brass hook material that joins the leather strap to the bag which is adjustable and that sits comfortably on the elbow or over the shoulder.

Akitere means to look at in Turkana language, it represents the time flow in design.

A design that you can look through the traditional passage, mapping onto the present with a gift from the past and into the future, woven in time.

The Akitere bag has been inspired by the Turkana Milk gourd that comes about from her travels within the county and small villages which has played a great source of influence on the designer’s work.
